Sophie Kiepe is a land planner who joined the firm’s Land Use and Zoning practice group in 2019. She works closely with clients, technical consultants and municipal agencies to assist in all aspects of a development project’s approval process. Her responsibilities include due diligence, reviewing site plans for compliance, preparing narratives and justification statements for a range of development application such as variances, waivers, special exceptions, zoning code amendments and land use plan amendments, and completing application submittals. Sophie works throughout Palm Beach County, Broward County, and the municipalities therein.
Specific responsibilities include: - Research City and County Codes particularly as they pertain to the planning process, site plan application and review, zoning district requirements - Interpret and apply land use regulations, zoning codes and comprehensive plans at both the municipal and regional level - Assist in the coordination of multi-disciplinary project teams - Draft Justification Statements for development applications, including site plans, variances, waivers, land use plan amendments, and amendments to land development regulations - Investigate site conditions as they pertain to a site’s potential for development - Perform due diligence review of governmental files related to property entitlements
Her passions center around supporting decentralized urban areas into vibrant, healthy communities through the use of New Urbanism design and planning principles such as mixed use, transit-oriented development and transit connectivity. Sophie is originally from the Netherlands, and on her free time enjoys traveling, practicing yoga, and being outdoors.
